EVERY YEAR, EIGHT QUEER TEENS ARE SELECTED TO EXPERIENCE A RARE AND LIFE-AFFIRMING STORYTELLING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM DURING SYDNEY MARDI GRAS.

Stories from the Heart is a queer storytelling development program for LGBTQIA+SB folk between the ages of 15 to 19. Eight emerging artists will be selected to develop a performance piece with the mentorship of established queer writers, directors, artists and performers over the course of four workshops, culminating in a live performance to an audience of queer community and industry set during Sydney Mardi Gras.

But it’s not just about creating a performance… Stories immerses the young people in their queer community and culture. They’ll learn about their queer history, connect with community leaders and learn how to make a tangible difference in the world with their art.

Applications are open now and close on the 9th of Jan.

“THIS IS MORE THAN A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS, THIS IS A MULTI-GENERATIONAL COMMUNITY OF QUEER ARTISTS WHO COME TOGETHER TO CREATE, SHARE, HEAL, AND CELEBRATE”
